About Adventure Letters

Adventure is quite possibly the most overused word of our generation... besides selfie. When I made this blog back in 2010 (whoa...) I was only a youngun' and didn't realize I was only adding confusion to the word, diluting its meaning. After even considering renaming the blog or deleting it altogether, I decided instead to define adventure letters for myself. So here we go. First I had to decide what adventure meant to me, to reclaim its meaning in a world that sometimes forgets its significance.

Adventure: (n.) exciting, unfamiliar, and uncharted scenarios that challenge us, make us grow, and lead us out of our comfort zone

Ok so we've got the adventure part down. It's how we grow. Now you might ask why "adventure letters"? When I made the blog as a junior in high school I chose Adventure Letters because it sounded cooler than Adventure Blogposts (you gotta agree with that one for sure). However, I now feel much more strongly about using "letters" rather than any other title. Calling these posts letters acknowledges the community aspect of any blog. These posts are just as much for me as they are for you. Letters are always for someone, never just an arbitrary set of words. Therefore, this blog is a sequence of writings aimed to stand figuratively (or literally if you'd prefer) hand in hand with you as we both seek out the adventure in life. To put ourselves out there. To grow out of our comfort zone. This blog is real. It's about humanity and our constant adventure in finding the role we were created to play in the universe.

Yet, the one thing I had aimed for since the humble beginnings of this blog still rings true...The purpose of adventure letters is to document my life, share my thoughts, and see each day as a new adventure.
happy adventures, dearest readers!
